With my main company taking most of my time, and me still being addicted to finding new business opportunities, I have, over the last 10 years, tried to find a business that fits into my lifestyle. The biggest struggle I have had in finding a suitable business is the fact that I like to be at home with my family, and available to them if needed. I have been involved with several business ventures, some did well, others…not even close. Throuhout this article series, I will be sharing my various experiences in building businesses in order to speed the process in making that decision for you.

Forget bookmarking with your favorite browser, there is a new game in town. Del.icio.us is a free online service where you can store your favorite blogs and sites. Each time someone marks a site in their profile, they can “tag” the site with keywords that reference what the bookmark is about. One of the biggest advantages of Del.icio.us is the fact that you can share your favorites with others. Traditionally, favorites are stored in each computer’s browser. Anybody who has many favorites (I have several hundred), knows that it gets difficult to manage on a person’s computer. With Del.icio.us, you can search your favorites, tag them with keywords etc.. so they are VERY easy to find.
If you have a comment about del.icio.us feel free to post one. I would love to hear from you.

Search engines love targeted, unique content on a website. Because of this, many internet publishers or affiliate marketers will try to focus on one topic per website (as an example - http://www.babystrolleretc.com/). However, this can create the daunting task of managing multiple sites through a web editor such as MS FrontPage or Macromedia Dreamweaver. For those just starting out, and who don’t have a lot of technical expertise, there can be a steep learning curve with these programs.
I have between 8 and 10 sites that I have built up over the last couple of years, and the biggest struggle I have had is findin the time to upload content.
Then I found WordPress, an open source (yes - it is free) blogging software that is super easy to use and can be installed on your web servers in 5 minutes. This site is based on WordPress. I launched this site in January, and have had no trouble posting regular content to the net. I LOVE it.
Then I started thinking I could use Word Press as a basic content manager for my niche sites. What a novel idea! However, by default there are some limitations as to what it can accomplish from an SEO perspective (meaning - it needs some tweaks). Then I found a WordPress Optimization E-book which is dedicated to helping you “optimize and monitize your WordPress site”. It is a power-packed e-book filled with tips on how to optimize WordPress for building niche sites. It also includes custom plugins, themes and tutorials. This is exactly what I have been looking for, so I am very happy to introduce it to my readers here. You can check it out at Optiniche.com
